We help communities recover, rebuild and reimagine after disaster

The Relationships That Hold Recovery Together | Dr. Daniel Aldrich and Renae Hanvin | WLS Day 2

Dr. Daniel Aldrich, Dean's Professor of Resilience at Northeastern University, and Renae Hanvin, CEO of Resilient Ready, give a Day Two keynote on the relationships that hold recovery together.

After a wildfire we rebuild roads, fix bridges, reconnect power, and repair homes, yet the foundation of resilience is the relationships between people: who they know, who they trust, and who can connect them to help. Daniel and Renae define social capital as the invisible infrastructure of community resilience, compare two communities with very different outcomes, and introduce Sociabli®, a framework for measuring social capital and social infrastructure, the shared places where people connect.

The Wildfire Leadership Summit is an invitation-only, three-day convening from After the Fire USA, an initiative of Rebuild NorthBay Foundation. 2026 Summit: September 15–17, 2026, The Hanna Center, Sonoma, California.
